AP Accountant – Shared Service Center
Location: Thessaloniki (Greece)
Department: Finance
Reports to: Senior Financial Accountant
Join our international team at Mr. Marine, a global leader in maritime TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) services. As an Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant in our Shared Service Center (SSC), you’ll be a key player in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of supplier invoices and payments. This is a high-impact role within a dynamic, fast-paced, and transaction-heavy environment.
Your Role
You will manage complex AP activities, maintain relationships with suppliers and operational teams across the globe, and actively support continuous improvement initiatives. You will be working closely with remote business units and the central accounting team to ensure the smooth flow of financial operations and data integration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Invoice Processing & Payment Management
Process, verify, and post supplier invoices in SAP with correct coding and approval.
Handle large volumes of invoices from multiple international regions, ensuring compliance with tax and legal requirements.
Prepare and execute weekly and ad hoc payment runs, ensuring global payment deadlines are met.
2. Vendor Management & Communication
Serve as the point of contact for internal teams and external suppliers regarding invoice and payment queries.
Maintain accurate vendor master data and ensure alignment with internal control policies.
Foster strong relationships with key vendors and business units to ensure efficient collaboration.
3. AP Ledger Reconciliation & Period-End Closing
Perform reconciliations between AP sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure accurate payment records.
Support month-end and year-end closings with accruals, AP aging reports, and documentation.
4. Compliance & Internal Control
Ensure full compliance with tax regulations (including VAT on cross-border invoices), accounting standards, and corporate policies.
Maintain complete and accurate audit trails within SAP.
Support internal and external audits through timely delivery of reconciliations and reports.
5. Process Improvement & Support
Proactively identify process inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
Participate in AP-related projects, including SAP enhancements and automation initiatives.
Share knowledge and support onboarding of new team members.
Job requirements
Who You Are
You are detail-oriented, structured, and skilled at navigating complex systems and high transaction volumes. You thrive in a collaborative, international team environment and bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Your Experience & Qualifications
3–5 years of AP experience, ideally in an SSC or international environment.
Solid working knowledge of SAP (Accounts Payable module).
Strong grasp of accounting principles and cross-border VAT regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
Experience in a global, multi-currency, and multi-entity business is a plus.
