This position is open for our office in Greece.

The Senior Financial Accountant is a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, process optimization and compliance across multiple functional areas. The postion leads the General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions within the Shared Service Center (SSC) and remotely supports the global maritime TICC business.

Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial integrity of the organization’s accounting records and leading the team in the SSC. They collaborate with finance teams remotely across different geographies, primarily focusing on accurate month-end closing processes, efficient cash management, and compliance with regulatory standards. This leader is also key in driving improvements in finance processes to support the maritime TIC business objectives, with strong proficiency in SAP for streamlined operations.

This position reports directly to the CFO.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and GL Oversight:

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including financial statements and account reconciliations.

  • Oversee maintenance of the general ledger within SAP, ensuring all entries comply with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).

  • Review SAP journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and supportability.

Accounts Payable (AP) Management

  • Oversee AR operations, managing billing, collections, and customer account reconciliations through SAP.

  • Monitor receivables, ensuring effective collections and dispute resolutions while supporting cash flow objectives.

Process Improvement and Standardization

  • Drive SAP-based enhancements to streamline GL, AP, and AR functions, promoting automation and best practices across SSC teams.

  • Ensure consistent and standardized accounting processes that align with global SAP standards.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Guide and mentor the GL, AP, and AR teams, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting team members’ professional growth.

  • Facilitate SAP training and set clear performance goals within the SSC.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between SSC teams and business units, providing financial insights and updates that align with business objectives.

Job requirements

Function requirements

  • Education & Experience: Relevant postgraduate degree (such as a Master’s degree) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a similar position. OR relevant undergraduate degree (such as a Bachelor’s degree) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting in high-volume environments.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, including data modelling, Power Query, and VBA for automation. Proficiency in Power BI for creating interactive dashboards and managing large datasets, with a focus on high-volume data visualization.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Requires experience working with cross-functional teams in a Shared Service Center (SSC) environment and coordinating remotely with global business units.

  • Language: Fluent in English, with strong communication skills for effective collaboration with international teams.

  • Other Requirements: An EU passport or an existing work permit for Greece is required.
