General

As a service engineer, you are mainly active in the inspection, calibration, certification and commissioning of maritime measurement and control systems, process instrumentation and gas detection systems onboard ships in the Netherlands and abroad.

The function encompasses more than just calibrating and certifying systems and instrumentation. You are the business card of the company. You instruct and advise the customers. This implies that you have technical knowledge about the products and systems and that you can install, connect, commission and troubleshoot faults.

Your work will never be dull! It is a challenging opportunity as in this position you will deal with a variety of systems and instrumentation and also non-maritime customers. However, we offer plenty of room to develop including an extensive internal and external induction process.

What you'll do:

  • Check equipment and systems to make sure they meet standards

  • Calibrate instruments to keep them accurate and reliable

  • Test and validate systems and suggest improvements

  • Make sure everything follows industry and marine rules (compliance)

  • Troubleshoot and fix problems

  • Install and set up new systems (retrofit)

  • Do repairs and adjustments

  • Keep detailed records of your work, parts used, and customer interactions

  • Work with project management and technical specialists to plan and do jobs

  • Stay safe at all times

  • Other tasks related to the job

Job requirements

What you need to know and be good at:

  • Experience with field instruments (like gas & fire detection, tank level-gauging, pressure and temperature transmitters, ODME, UTI, 15PPM and VECS)

  • Experience in using pressure, temperature calibrators and instruments

  • Understanding control loop checks, calibrations, and protocols

  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety rules for marine processes

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt

  • Ability to work well with customers, co-workers, and contractors

  • Strong communication skills

  • Willingness to travel within the region and internationally

Job requirements:

  • Professional (Diploma or Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems)) or vocational qualification

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (preferred)

  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Dutch language skills are a plus

  • Travelling within and out of the country

  • Confident, engaging, and able to build relationships and take calculated risks

  • Willingness to learn and develop

  • Experience with common productivity tools (like Google Workspace)

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

  • Valid EU driving license - type B

  • Medically fit for offshore assignments and working at heights
